A week and a bit of Scotland

I kicked off my upcoming Scottish adventures with Nicola by seeing Belle and Sebastian at the Roundhouse last night. I’m keeping a mental note to check out who else is playing there because it’s a brilliant venue.

It was a pretty good set by all accounts – no real surprises on there as they seem to have a practiced a core set of songs (old and new) after being off the touring scene for a while. In fact, it was pretty much the same set as in Glasgow at Xmas, with the exception for I’m a Cuckoo (squee!).

Without wanting to sound OVERLY dramatic, that song has a shedload of memories attached to it, happy and sad and I pretty much burst into tears hearing it live. Last time I heard it live was at Reading 2006 and a crap load of stuff has happened since then. In short, it was cathartic and all the Scottishness has got me WELL in the mood for my adventure tomorrow!

We are starting and finishing in Edinburgh and I’m hoping for some kilted action. I will settle for mountain views and tea though. Mmmm.
